It is known that in the modern environment where two globalized, digital and different generations - the "Z" and "Alpha" generations live, management in the education system, as in all areas, must keep up with modernity. That is, the education system must meet the requirements of the times. However, applying these requirements incorrectly does not yield successful results. In the modern educational environment, incorrect management and upbringing have a negative impact on the formation of an individual as a personality. Since education is a process in which, in addition to transmitting knowledge, personality is also formed, incorrect upbringing and management cause great complications in the future.

The main complications caused by the management system in educational institutions are as follows:

* Exam and rating centrality: If an educational institution takes exam results and ratings as the main criteria, the students are formed with the idea that they will be evaluated only if they receive high grades. As a result, knowledge turns into only a test, and at the same time, negative syndromes such as aggression, fear and depression arise in students. This destroys their ability to understand and be creative.
* Forgetting Emotional Intelligence (EQ): When an educational institution functions only as an "intellectual center" and does not give importance to the education of emotional intelligence, and when ethics and psychological well-being are not placed at the center of education, highly intelligent but socially undeveloped individuals are formed.
* Suppression of critical thinking: If critical thinking is not valued in an institution, if the individual's different and reasoned thinking is not valued, and instead humility and obedience are encouraged, this is the biggest obstacle preventing the improvement of the quality of education and social progress.
* Erosion of ethical values: If moral, ethical and emotional education is not paid attention to in the era of rapid integration of modern technology and artificial intelligence into education, a feeling of emotional alienation and loneliness will arise in students. This will lead to the destruction of ethical values.
* Authoritarian management: Under an authoritarian system, students cannot make independent decisions, avoid responsibility in problematic situations, and are deprived of the ability to solve problems.
In conclusion, it can be noted that the main point that modern education should pay attention to is not to forget that each of the students is an individual. For this, special attention should be paid to a student-centered (student-oriented) approach in education, and in addition to transferring knowledge, human values, ethics and psychological well-being should be placed at the center of teaching. If this approach is followed, students in the future will not only be educated specialists, but also useful to society, individuals with high empathy skills: that is, the synthesis of humanism and the digital age is the way out of this problem.

Ruhiyya Mehdiyeva,
Deputy Chairman of the “Education Support and Enlightenment” Public Association,
Doctor of Philosophy

This negative trend rightly causes dissatisfaction in Azerbaijani society. In order to express our attitude to the issue and clarify where these forces come from, we spoke with David Seliverstov, head of the Caucasus region of the Global Solidarity Council, an international human rights defender.

-Why is it unacceptable to use the name of Albert Agarunov in political and ethnic manipulations today?

-At a time when tensions around Azerbaijan are rising again, it is completely unacceptable to use the name of the National Hero of Azerbaijan, Albert Agarunov, in a distorted and speculative context. On social networks and in some discussions, individual individuals are trying to link this fact with political manipulations against Azerbaijan, highlighting his Jewish origin. Such an approach contradicts historical truth, the principle of civil unity and the national-spiritual values of the Azerbaijani people.

The name of Albert Agarunov is not a subject of ethnic and religious disputes. His name is a symbol of loyalty to Azerbaijani statehood, civil unity, multicultural solidarity and selflessness for the Motherland. The memory of national heroes should unite society and not become an instrument of information attacks and political provocations.

-What meaning does Albert Agarunov's heroism have for the Azerbaijani people?

-Albert Agarunov was born on April 25, 1969 in the Amirjan settlement of Baku. During the First Karabakh War, he voluntarily joined the defense of Azerbaijan, showed special heroism as a tank commander in the battles for Shusha and was heroically martyred on May 8, 1992. After his death, he was awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan.

His heroism is not measured by national or religious affiliation. He was an Azerbaijani of Jewish origin, but above all, he was a patriot of Azerbaijan. His life and martyrdom show that the religion, ethnicity and origin of a person who gave his life for Azerbaijan cannot become a subject of debate. Such personalities belong to the common memory of the people, the history of honor of the state and the school of true patriotism.

-How does Azerbaijani legislation approach this issue and how should the concept of "Azerbaijani" be explained here?

-According to the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, everyone is equal before the law and the court. Article 25 of the Constitution guarantees the equality of rights and freedoms of everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, language, origin and other circumstances. Article 44 of the Constitution establishes the right of everyone to preserve their national affiliation and states that no one can be forced to change their national affiliation.

These constitutional norms once again confirm that a person's ethnic or religious affiliation cannot be used to question his loyalty to the Motherland, civic position and belonging to the Azerbaijani people. In this context, the concept of "Azerbaijani" should be evaluated not only in terms of ethnic origin, but also in terms of citizenship, statehood, loyalty to the Motherland and belonging to a common historical destiny. Every person who is a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan and who sacrifices his life for the land, flag and security of this state is an integral part of the Azerbaijani people.

-What is your main appeal to society and the information space on this issue?

Today, it is unacceptable to use the name of Albert Agarunov for political speculation, ethnic or religious division, and to set the Azerbaijani people and the Jewish community against each other. This is neither respect for Albert's memory, nor an indicator of loyalty to Azerbaijan. On the contrary, such behavior strikes at national unity, civic solidarity, and the historical multicultural tradition of Azerbaijan.

The Jewish community of Azerbaijan has always been an active part of the country's public, cultural, and state life. Azerbaijani Jews are an integral part of this land. Their patriotism, loyalty to the state, and contributions to the development of Azerbaijani society should not become an instrument of any political manipulation.

Speaking from the position of human rights defenders, I note that attempts to create division among Azerbaijani citizens on ethnic and religious grounds must be categorically rejected. Anyone who tries to use the name of Albert Agarunov against Azerbaijan or the Jewish community of Azerbaijan should understand that this people does not divide its heroes. The Azerbaijani people honor their martyrs not because of their ethnicity or religion, but because of their loyalty to the Motherland.

The shed blood of our martyrs is the seal of Azerbaijan's independence. Therefore, their heroism and victory are undeniable. May God have mercy on all our martyrs.
Long live Azerbaijan!
Long live the Supreme Commander-in-Chief!

Suleyman Ismayilbeyli

May 28, 1918, is remembered as a historical triumph of the political will, national dignity and statehood of the Azerbaijani people. It was on that day in Tbilisi that the independence of Azerbaijan was declared by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and our people laid the foundation of the first democratic republic in the East. This event was not only the creation of a new state, but also a historical expression of the ideas of freedom, law, national consciousness and democratic governance.

Although the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic existed for a short time, the philosophy of statehood created by it left an indelible mark on the national memory of the people. After the collapse of the republic, Azerbaijan was included in the Soviet political system and was forced to live for many years under centralized ideological rule. However, the loss of state independence did not mean the complete disappearance of the people's national spirit, cultural identity and historical memory. On the contrary, the idea of statehood, which was established in 1918, continued to live in the minds, culture and spiritual existence of the people.

In this complex historical context, the position taken by Heydar Aliyev during the Soviet period was of particular importance. Although he operated within a rigid ideological system, he tried to protect and develop Azerbaijan's national interests, cultural values, scientific potential and personnel policy within the limits of his capabilities. His activities were distinguished by far-sighted political behavior, strategic management and the philosophy of protecting national existence rather than open confrontation.

From a scientific point of view, this approach shows that the national idea does not live only with political statements. The national idea is protected by the education system, science, culture, economic development, management traditions and the training of national personnel. Heydar Aliyev's activities during the Soviet period also created an important moral, political and institutional foundation for the future independence of Azerbaijan in this direction.

In a philosophical sense, this historical path shows one truth: a state may lose its independence at a certain time, but as long as the people preserve their memory, dignity and national consciousness, their idea of statehood does not die. The idea of independence declared in 1918 was not forgotten even in the difficult political realities of the Soviet era. Heydar Aliyev's activities were an important historical stage that served to keep that idea alive in the national memory, to protect the Azerbaijani thought and to prepare for future independence.

Thus, May 28, 1918, should be considered the beginning of the will of the Azerbaijani people for freedom, and Heydar Aliyev's activities during the Soviet era should be considered an important continuation of preserving that will in the historical memory, national consciousness and statehood. 1918 gave the Azerbaijani people the ideal of statehood, and Heydar Aliyev served to ensure that that ideal was not forgotten in the most difficult political conditions of the time and that it lived on for future independence.

David Seliverstov

Head of the Caucasus Office of the Global Solidarity Council, international human rights activist, head of the Azerbaijani office of the Caucasian Jewish Association
